1*20’GP hydrogen peroxide activated alumina to South America


One customer from South America told us that the internal structure of the hydrogen peroxide production equipment had been changed, and the shape of activated alumina needed to be changed from ball shape to granular shape. In July, we provided 1kgs samples to customers for testing. After a month of testing, we are pleased to be advised our samples have passed the test. In September, the customer ordered 1*20’GP, a total of 14 tons of granular activated alumina to do trial application in one equipment. The customer's demand is 80-100 tons per year.

What is activated alumina for hydrogen peroxide?
We know that activated alumina has high strength, large surface area, is insoluble in water, aromatic hydrocarbons, lipids and other organic solvents, odorless, tasteless, non-toxic, and has a strong reduction and regeneration capacity for anthraquinone degradation products, so it is currently used by most domestic hydrogen peroxide manufacturers. In the production process of hydrogen peroxide, aluminum oxide plays two main roles: one is to regenerate the degradation products generated in the hydrogenation process and oxidation process of the working solution, increase the effective anthraquinone content in the working solution, and stabilize the composition of the working solution; The second is to adsorb a small amount of alkali liquor entrained in the working solution in the post-treatment process, so as to avoid poisoning and oxidation of palladium catalyst due to high alkalinity in the working solution and hydrogen peroxide decomposition in the extraction process. When the activated alumina loses the regeneration ability of the degradants in the working solution, it cannot continue to regenerate the degradants in the working solution; When the alkali liquor in the working solution adsorbed by activated alumina reaches the saturation state, the alkali liquor in the working solution cannot be further adsorbed. At this time, the activated alumina shall be replaced in a timely manner.


The extended use of activated alumina will have the following effects on the system:
1) The alkalinity of the working liquid exceeds the standard, poisoning the palladium hydrogenation catalyst, reducing the hydrogenation efficiency, increasing the catalyst consumption, and causing the oxidation of the working liquid and the decomposition of hydrogen peroxide in the extraction process.
2) The degradation products in the working solution are increasing and the anthraquinone content is decreasing, which leads to the increase of anthraquinone consumption, the decrease of output and the decline of quality.
3) With the accumulation of degradation products in the system, the viscosity of the working fluid increases greatly, which is easy to cause flooding of the extraction tower and a large amount of alkali in the drying tower, endangering the safety of the system.
